Juniors!

6:00 PM Miriam 0 Comments

Well well it seems that most of the incoming juniors are getting prepared for registering in UMK. Can see many good response in Facebook where they are asking questions. Really make me look back and remember the time when I just entered UMK. Time flies when you don't know it. Now I'm already a second year senior and have juniors under me.

Really hope they will enjoy their studying experience in UMK and not go running away. At every crook and corner of this world there is always something to be learnt. ^^

Can't wait to meet all these juniors. Haha... Starting second year in about 1 month. And not really prepared.

Wishing everyone to have an eventful year ahead! Both seniors and juniors. For seniors.. let us have a better and  blissful year ahead better than the previous years and for juniors, may you all enjoy life in UMK :)

Back...

It's been quite some time since I last updated this blog but here are some of the past events that happened.

Ø  ~Trip to Terengganu and Pahang
Ø  ~Talk for Business Fundamentals
Ø  ~KARISMA UMK Official Launching
Ø  ~Bengkel Penyediaan for all the YDP, Secretary and Treasurer of clubs at PCB Resort
Ø  ~FASA Graduation Night

So I’ll start with the trip to Terengganu and Pahang. This trip was organised for the Computer Application course. Dr. Mariam and Dr. Lee Seong Wei were the advisors for the trip. The students involved were SBP1 and SBH2. Firstly we went to Kristal Prima Resources in Pahang. They specialised in fish food. The person in charge told us about all the steps needed to start a business and also on how to maintain it. He said that he started from scratch and build up his business to have a factory now. He also does fish breeding and sells them. For now they have marketed a fish product based on dishes helped by Sime Darby Foods. They have different fish dishes like Asam Fish, Sweet Sour Fish which only needs to be heated up and voila! There you have it… a meal for two J We went into the factory and saw the machines used to produce the fish feed. After touring awhile, we then proceeded up the bus to the next destination… the boarding house.

Since our rest house was in Terengganu we had a rather long ride on the bus. At that moment, we started to have some conversations and know each other better. We also had time to rest! We reached the rest house at around 2.30 a.m. and it was tiring! Such a long bus ride!! So we took our shower and rested a while.

The next morning, we left at 8.00 a.m to have breakfast and to stop at Nuinfra Mutiara Feedmill. This company produces feed for goats and cows. We had an introduction and talk about the basics of feed production for cattle. The ingredients used to produce these feeds like molasses and other chemicals. Palm trees are also used in this production. Then we had a tour of the factory where all the manufacturing and packaging were done. It was very interesting to know that even cattle have their own specially made feed so that they will grow healthily. All the extra vitamins are added in the feed so that they will get the best of the feed. The feed is also packaged at 100 kg per sack.

After the tour we stopped by a craft complex known as Noor Afra Craft Complex. At this complex we had the chance to see a demonstration of batik printing and colouring. There were also batik on sale and also other souvenirs. So we had our souvenir shopping at that time. We also managed to see the making of the metal prints for the batik printing. It was not an easy job. Printing batik really needs patience and endurance as the wax used was very hot. Some of my course mates took the opportunity to do some batik painting as there were a few empty batik designs for printing. After having a tour of the complex we board the bus again and stopped by to have lunch at a nearby restaurant. The restaurant was facing the beach and of course some of us just couldn’t resist going down the beach and playing a while. After enjoying the cool sea breeze, we had lunch and it was scrumptious! Yummy…

The last stop was Ladang Cosmopal where they breed goats!! The goats were so cute and adorable. Especially the kids. They were just running around and we could carry them and play with them. They were so warm and soft. A few of us had the chance to feed the goats and also feed the kids with milk. This farm had a great potential as they made use of their resources very well. They breed goats for their meat, milk and also skin. They also use the goat’s droppings as fertilizers. We had the chance to buy some leather products and also drink fresh goat’s milk. It was very thick and also very appetising. Goat’s milk is very good for health and can help cure many diseases like asthma. The farm was our last stop in this trip. Then we started heading back to UMK. Of course there are many pictures from the trip so here they are. Enjoy! J

FASA Award Night~

9:46 AM Miriam 0 Comments

The next day after the CNY celebration is the FASA Award Night.. It was for the closing ceremony of the FASA Sports event. The theme for the night was Italian Masquerade and everyone was told to wear a mask. There were several awards given out. For this event, I was one of the committee member in charge of the hall setup. So here are some pictures from that night..

Opening speech by Mooi

The MCs of the night..
Runway models

Me and the MC, Sharul

Me and one of the models, Siew Loon

Me and the best dressed for the night, Asmira

Me and Amirul, also in charge of deco..

Kiu, One of the actress in the short film

Me and my roommate, Honey

Me and one of the dancers, Sim Wah

The opening performance was a dance.. Overall the event was a fun event and everyone had fun. It was quite tiring to furnish the hall according to the theme set which is Italian Masquerade but it was quite satisfying. We had to really work together to finish up our job as it was quite last minute as we only managed to decorate the hall after a talk in the morning. So it was a real relief when we manage to get it done. Everyone dressed splendidly and beautifully. It was a night to remember..

Overall the whole show was great! It was so funny especially the drama performance. The singing performance was very funny as well. I managed to interact with a few of the main directors of the show and get a few ideas about hosting a show. I feel that teamwork is very important in hosting an event successfully and also leadership skills to manage the team members.. Anyway.. on with the next event is the FASA Award Night..

Ciao~
